In Europe, it is very popular to travel by train. Not only that Europe is well covered by railways, but you can see many beautiful things by taking a ride on a train. Here are more reasons why travel trough Europe by train.





You see the landscape

When you are 42000 ft in the sky you can't really see much except the clouds, right? But when you are on the train you get the vibe of the country. You can see the beautiful landscape, the mountains rising to the sky, the people rushing to their jobs and birds flying trough the sky.



You meet people

I don't know what's with the trains but people always love to chat on the train. You can meet people from various places, from different cultures and with diverse knowledge. And most importantly by meeting the locals you can get the real picture of the place and you "feel" the culture.



It is cheaper

The train is way cheaper than a plane. And you can take the "Global pass" ticket and you can visit all the countries you like. The price of that ticket is around 500€ (546$) and you can travel for a month wherever and whenever you like. Think how much it would cost that kind of ticket for a plane.



You can change your plans

When you have booked plane you can't really say "I want to stay for a couple of days more", but if you are traveling by train you can. If you like the place you stay a bit longer and if not you just hop on the next train.




Train is always on time

I remember when we had to spend 8 hours on the London's airport because of the delayed flight. It would be shopping time if this would not happen at 1 AM and all the stores were closed. But train will be on time no matter the weather.

1. Go to local restaurants



Dining out is always the best part of the holidays. But usually expensive! So to spend less money go to local restaurants not the tourist spots (they usually charge double).




2. Shop at local supermarkets



Shop where the local people shop! Because those supermarkets will not have that expensive prices than shops located around hotels.




3. Have a budget per day



Before leaving the hotel to explore make sure that you set a daily budget. That way you won't be worrying that you will run out of money before the holidays are over.




4. Own excursions



Have a lovely day exploring sites by yourself by just grabbing a map from the hotel's reception. That way you will spend less money and see more than pre-planed tours which come with a big price-tag.




5. Drink local beer and wine



If your not to picky of what you drink then drink local beer and wine. That way you will pay less, than if you would drink imported brands.

Today in travel section I will write about Lyon. If you remember last week we had QOTW section and you dear readers decided that you would want to know what to see in Lyon beautiful city in France.






1. Parc de la Tete d'Or



It means park of the Golden Head. This park has everything... from a small zoo to lake where you can rent a boat, mini-golf, you can go cycling and horse riding and for children miniature train. Here everyone can find something that they enjoy ;)




2. Vieux Lyon
It means old Lyon. This neighborhood has got the most preserved Rennaissance-era buildings and for that is one of the must see.





3. Miniature museum of cinema
It's located in Vieux Lyon. This museum has two collections, first is the collection of 100 miniature scenes and the second collection focuses on special effects techniques (props and artefacts).





4. Les Halles de Lyon - Paul Bocuse
This one is for all you food lovers out there ;) this place has got everything your heart desire. From pastry to meat and of course cheese. Bon Appetit :)





5. Museum of Fine Arts of Lyon
This museum hold collections range from ancient Egypt antiquities to the Modern art period.  Seeing this museum it will be like walking trough time.

This week I will write how to safe travel. Because it's important to keep our belongings and yourself safe I have written down 5 tips that will keep us safe at least a little bit.

1. A back glance
When you're leaving a cafe or restaurant you might look back just to check if you left anything behind. Because it's better to be safe than sorry and who wants an extra drama on their holiday.

2. Don't keep your wallet in your back pocket!
If you must keep your wallet in the front pocket or better keep it inside your jacket or pocket with buttons or zippers. That way it will be much more difficult for thieves to rob you.





3. Get travel insurance
On your holiday, you can never be sure that something won't go wrong. So it's better to get insurance than to spend thousands of dollars on hospital bills.

4. Get vaccinated
This one is one of the most important ones. Before you leave to a certain destination check what health precautions you should follow.





5. Don't leave your belongings unattended in public spaces
People sometimes forgot that they must pay attention to their belongings. They often made a mistake of leaving their purse or backpack hanging from the back chair or at their feet. So to keep them safe keep it on your lap or wrap its strap around your leg.

Today I will present my choices when I visit Slovakia and it's city of Bratislava. But not all my tours are located in the center of Bratislava.

1. Devin Castle 
This castle stands on a higher ground and it's well-preserved ruin with much to see and experience. There are bike trails and you can even lend a canoe and enjoy your whole day exploring beautiful surroundings.




2. Old Town Hall
This town hall isn't just any town hall! It houses the oldest museum in Bratislava and inside we can find an exhibition of the city history and even torture devices.



3. Michael's Gate
You can either just walk under the gate or you can take a museum tour of medieval fortification. The choice is yours ;)




4. Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum
This art museum is 20 km south of Bratislava but it's still something I would love to see. This museum presents the modern art of international and Slovak artists.




5. Pub Tours
If you like to experience like me the nightlife of Bratislava we must take a tour such as Be Free Tours or Authentic Slovakia tour if you want to learn authentic drinks of Slovakia.
