Make Your Lavender Tea!

January 08, 2016

Lavender is a herb known for its purple colour and pleasant smell. A study of The University of Maryland Medical Center showed that inhaling the smell of lavender calms down the nervous system and relaxes. Lavender is mostly used in tea which can reduce anxiety, insomnia, stress and depression.

So let's make a lavender tea.

1.
You will need:
- 4 lavender sprigs or 1 cup crushed lavender
- 2 sprigs of mint
- Honey
- Lemon
+ A bit of ginger if you want to add some spice

2.
Boil a small amount of water in a pot – this is going to be a concentrated amount.

3.
Add sugar or honey when the water is bubbling and stir until completely dissolved. Taste for sweetness, add more lemon juice if it is too sweet.

4.
Add in lavender and stir for a minute, then add the mint and let boil for a few minutes. Taste every so often as the tastes get more pungent as it cooks.

5.
Through a strainer, pour the concentrated tea into a jug filled with ice cubes – and there you have it!
